Adrian Pitts is at the forefront of the School's development linking the important topics of energy, environment and sustainability for the built environment. His influence in these areas draws together both research and teaching activities and has a focus on enabling excellence in environmental design quality. Over recent years Dr. Pitts' research interests have also ranged over a number of related fields, including comfort, air movement and air quality in buildings; the integration of renewable energy systems into buildings; building environmental control systems; and design for warm climates. He has a wide experience of experimental based research and is the author of many scientific papers in the above areas (a recent selection is listed below). He has also led projects in recent years dealing with: sustainability assessment; building integrated photovoltaic technology; thermal comfort; design for warm climates; computer aided environmental design; and energy and environment aspects of degree courses for building professionals.
